IPB Berusaha Datangkan Peneliti Internasional melalui World Class Professor


Bogor (Antaranews Megapolitan) – World Class Professor (WCP) is a program initiated by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti RI) in an effort to increase international publications by presenting world-class research figures. Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) as a leading university in Indonesia is trying to transform into the top 500 universities in the world.

Dr. Irmanida Batubara as Head of the Center for Tropical Biopharmaca Studies, Institute for Research and Community Service, Bogor Agricultural University (Trop BRC-LPPM-IPB) said that, “Every year we submit a proposal to be able to hold a WCP. Trop BRC is the only institution from IPB which this year can organize WCP with Scheme A,” he explained.

WCP Scheme A is part of the program at WCP which specifically aims to increase international publications in Q1-level reputable journals, the best level in the category of international publications.

“For this year we brought in four professors from within and outside the country. From abroad we invited professors from Japan, including Prof. Eiichiro Fukusaki (specialty of metabolomics), Prof. Sigehiko Kanaya (field of expertise in bioinformatics) and Prof. Susumu Uchiyama (field of expertise in protein science). These three professors will attend IPB from August to October 2018. “As for domestic professors, we invite Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Pugeng Aryantha from the School of Life Science Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) who was present on July 23 2018 as a guest speaker at the “Workshop on Handling Fungi at IPB,” he said.

Accelerating the transformation of IPB into a university ranked QS World University in the world’s 500 best ranking certainly requires a strategy. One of them is increasing the productivity of academic research so as to increase the quantity and quality of research on metabolomics technology as an integrated strategy in the characterization of the active components of natural ingredients so as to develop research both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Irmanida added that WCP, which is a program that organizes various series of events such as workshops, seminars, public lectures and mentoring for publications, is aimed at academics free of charge. He hopes that with this series of activities, lecturers and researchers will be more motivated to develop their scientific fields and contribute to increasing international publications.

“With the increase in publications by academics, in the future we hope that the academic reputation of the institution and the citations of each lecturer and researcher will increase,” he explained. In this case Trop BRC also cooperates with other Centers of Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI PT) at IPB, namely, the Center for Tropical Horticultural Studies (PKHT), the Department of Food Science and Technology (ITP) and also the Department of Agricultural Industrial Technology (TIN) which the focus of his activities is studying the metabolomics of tropical medicinal plants, mangosteen, coffee and tempeh.
