Indonesia Masters 2022: Apriyani/Fadia hentikan ganda Korea untuk capai semifinal

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 Indonesia Masters after eliminating the South Korean pair Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Friday.

The 15-21, 21-16, 21-16 victory recorded against the world’s second-ranked pair led Apriyani/Fadia to reach the semifinals of the BWF Super Series tournament for the first time.

Apriyani/Fadia seemed to have yet to find a game pattern and became the butt of South Korea’s women’s doubles in the first game.

The second game was tight. Apriyani/Fadia, who were already leading 16-12, were a bit overwhelmed when Lee/Shin were able to catch up and equalize the score to 16-16. However, the home doubles were able to appear calm and snatched five consecutive points to win 21-16.

In the third game, Apriyani/Fadia played more insistently by hitting Lee/Shin’s defense every time they got a lob from their opponent. Slowly, Apriyani/Fadia’s score, which was originally behind 3-5, managed to turn 7-6 ahead.

After winning, Apriyani / Fadia began to relax their attacks and shifted their position to defend. The advantage was still held by Indonesia until the first interval ended until finally Lee/Shin took an 11-12 advantage after going through a thrilling rally.

Apriyani/Fadia just took the lead again after two strokes from Lee went too far off the field in quick succession. The pair that won the SEA Games Vietnam gold medal finally stopped the Korean doubles in the third game with a score of 21-16.
