Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian women’s doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti said the key to their victory in the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2022 was to play boldly in the decisive game against representatives from South Korea, Friday.
Apriyani/Fadia who faced Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan, were left behind in the first game and secured the second game to force rubber games. In the third game, then they decided to play more aggressively and produced a final score of 15-21, 21-16, 21-16.
“Earlier in the third game, we were short on points, then we communicated to add points one by one. We have also started to memorize their patterns and finally we decided to play more daringly,” said Apriyani at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

The women’s doubles, which was playing for the first time in the BWF Super Series, looked impressive against the second-ranked pair in the world. Solidarity is immediately visible even though the two have not been paired for a long time.
Fadia as a junior can also balance Apriyani’s aggressive game, and can execute directions from her seniors. Apriyani said that she was only trying to give moral support to Fadia to fight together.
Cohesiveness and neat coordination have proven to be able to make them superior to partners who are theoretically superior.

“I told Fadia to just let her spirit out, as much as possible I give her a positive aura so she can play well on the field,” said the athlete who won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics with Greysia Polii.
Not only a matter of cohesiveness, the support from fans in Istora Senayan also affects their fighting spirit when they are under pressure. According to Apriyani, even though they were left behind, the fans continued to pour out their endless support.
“Their support means a lot to us. Thank you very much because every word you say is a prayer, even though we missed it at first, but we still gave support until the end,” he concluded.
Previously, Apriyani/Fadia had just taken the lead again after two strokes from Lee were too far off the field in quick succession. The pair that won the SEA Games Vietnam gold medal finally stopped the Korean doubles in the third game with a score of 21-16.
In the semifinals later, Apriyani/Fadia will meet the Malaysian pair Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan on Saturday (11/6) tomorrow.
