TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) found data on the causes of this wedding child.

This data was found from supervision carried out by KPAI in four provinces in 2022.

Among them are West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Java to be precise in Kediri, the Riau Islands and South Kalimantan.

“Our record regarding child marriage is that we happen to have carried out surveillance in four provinces, yes in 2022 there will be NTB, East Java, to be precise in Kediri, then the Riau Islands, then South Kalimantan,” said KPAI deputy chairman Jasra Putra at MNC Trijaya FM, Saturday (21/1/2023).

Reasons found by KPAI there is an exemption wedding such as unwanted pregnancies.

Another factor is the concern that their children will commit adultery and violate religious norms.

“Another reason is that they have had sexual relations, custom, even the judge granted the dispensation of marriage because the judge views the prospective partner as capable of managing the household,” he explained again.

Apart from that, another unexpected reason when asking for a dispensation to marry is that the family has sent out invitations.

“So there’s no way it can’t be held. So the trick is like that, first spread out the invitations and then ask for the dispensation of the marriage, so there’s something urgent too, right? So, here are some reasons in the four provinces that we got,” he concluded.
