TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the Commemoration Peak commemoration National Press Day 2023 which was held at the Multipurpose Building of the North Sumatra Provincial Government, Deli Serdang Regency, Thursday (9/2/2023).

In his speech President asked the media to remain objective and adhere to idealism in entering the political year.

“Stay true to idealism, be objective and don’t slip into polarization,” he said President.

The Head of State said the media must encourage the implementation of the 2024 Election so that it runs honestly and fairly. The mass media must reinforce Indonesia’s unity in this five-year democratic party.

“The mass media must remain the fourth pillar of democracy and the main reference for the public in obtaining information,” he said President.

Previously President said the mainstream media (mainstream) is needed as a house of information clarification.

By becoming an information purification house, the mainstream media presents verified information. The mainstream media plays a role as a communication of hope, which gives hope to all.

“The main role of the media is now increasingly important to amplify the truth and reveal facts, especially in the midst of post-truth, post-fact and post-truth ferocity,” he said.
